Fly fishing and spin fishing charters in Montauk are the best in September and October
and the best way to catch a record False Albacore, Striped Bass and Bluefish
is on a flyfishing outfit or with a spin fishing rig.
Possibly the best boat for the job is the Parker Center Console Special Edition.
The 21' Parker SE is light and nimble yet solid below the waterline.
It has enough room for two anglers at once while a third is seated comfortably on the bench
or standing by the helm on the leaning post/ rocket launcher.
Captain Bob Sullivan is an experienced guide and at his best whether with a beginner or tournament pro.
Captain Bob started fishing the Fall Blitz in Montauk in the 1980s
and has been licensed by the USCG since the 1990s.
Captain Bob's safety record is is spotless he is fully insured
and closely tied into the Montauk grapevine of captains and guides.
Why is Montauk the best place to catch Stripers Blues and Albies?
A drop in the air temps triggers the annual mass feeding blitz off Montauk
It starts with exodus of bait from the backwaters and estuaries
where tidal currents sweep the bait balls out to the bays.
When migrating Striped Bass, False Albacore and Bluefish discover these schools they feed on them.
The constant cafeteria line of bait makes it easy for the gamefish to fatten up for the coming winter
and continue their migration, so they stay around until the bait runs out.
It happens every year at Montauk Point where the cofluence of several of these tidal currents trap the bait off Montauk Point.
Screaching shore birds, frothing white water, tails, teeth and tight lines
make for epic fishing of almost biblical conditions
A charter for three anglers or less cost $450 for four hours (8am-12pm or 1pm - 5pm)
and an all day (8am - 4pm) cost $650.
Annual Seasonal Fishing Patterns Back in the Bays
Our location on Noyack Bay is ideally situated to take advantage of great fishing just outside our doors, all spring, summer and fall. Noyack Bay is the destination for many experienced fishing guides and scores of recreational anglers.
May and June provides great sight fishing for striped bass in shallow water. Casting in front of the dark forms as they glide in and out of range provides the most experienced fly-fisher with the ultimate challenge. A twenty-pound striped bass barely raises an eyebrow during this exciting period.

Really big weakfish also come into the shallows looking for food too, but are more consistently caught off the end of Jessup Neck. Early season is the time for the 'weakies' to come out of the depths to chase food on the surface.
May and June also provide the best opportunity to catch really large fluke. Each year startling reports of monster fluke arrive at the store' even though the location of the catch is often a well-guarded secret.

In June, the bluefish is suddenly ubiquitous. In weights from five to fifteen pounds, they are seen frothing up the surface with their rapacious attacks on baitfish. They hang around through September and provide sport for fly-fishers and spin-casters from the beach or from a boat.
June is also the time when serious fluking gets under way and continues on through the summer. Targeting these bottom-feeding fish is a great way for everyone in the family to get out and try to catch dinner. The abundant blackfish and porgies, which share the bottom with the fluke, make for excellent table fare as well.
In late July, August and September we watch from our windows as kids have a blast catching snappers down at the dock. Snappers, or more accurately, baby bluefish weigh under a pound but put up a fight that is inspiringly disproportionate. Attacking everything in sight is their way of life and it results in great opportunity for teaching future anglers the joy of fishing.
Fall and the Montauk Blitz

His cell phone is (631) 987-4402.
